The delightful Kune Kune pig with it’s characteristic throat tassels and short snout may have originated in Asia but it
has been know in New Zealand in excess of 200 years. During this time they were largely unknown to the Pakeha
(European), until a captive breeding programme. |

Hunter Hills near Waimate in the South Island. |

HOKONUI MERINO SHEEP These rare feral sheep originated in our local Hokonui
Hills (well known for the illicit Moonshine Whiskey). Today as few as 100 remain in the hills where more than 2000
roamed as early as the 1860’s. |
